February 2010
Hello Everyone,

As I write this amidst one snow storm, anticipating another, I pray for clear dry weather for our Lincoln Day Dinner. I hope all who can, will be able to attend. I want to especially thank all who in any way have contributed to the event.

I have included our schedule of events for 2010. Although not all information is available it will allow you to schedule the events on your calendar. You will also be able to access this information via our web site at: www.adamsrepublicanwomen.org.

It is with great anticipation I look forward to the election process this year. We have another opportunity to participate in choosing a candidate for Governor and Lieutenant Governor and U.S. Senate. I don’t think I need to say any more! Please take the time to support the candidate of your choice. Congressman Todd Platts, State Representatives Dan Moul and Will Tallman are also running for re-election. State Committee people will also be chosen. Please let the candidates know if you would like to help with their campaigns.

Again a very special thank you to our officers and committee chair for all the time and effort they willingly give this council. They are so very much appreciated.

I would like to extend an invitation to husbands and friends to attend our dinner meetings. We try to give you an opportunity to hear from our elected officials and those who would be elected officials. It gives us an opportunity to discuss those things that affect your everyday lives.

Thank you for being a part of the Adams County Council of Republican Women. Please let us know if there is something we can do for you or if there is something you can do for us.

Sincerely,

Nadine DeVine
President, ACCRW

Hello Everyone,

How fast the summer has gone! I hope it was enjoyable for everyone.

We start a busy fall with our membership dinner September 10th. State Representative Dan Moul will be our guest speaker for the evening. Please consider inviting a friend or family member to join us at 6:30 pm in the Webster Room at the Gettysburg Hotel. Remember new members joining our council that night will receive 1 year free membership. A favorite of everyone is the Chicken dinner at Orrtanna United Methodist Church 6:30 pm on October 8th. We will be electing officers for next year. Please let Michele Kesting or I know if you are available to help out this year at the Apple Harvest Festival. Our Apple Harvest volunteers work extremely hard to help the council continue to meet their financial obligations. We so appreciate your dedication and effort.

We have a very important election November 3rd. The addition of a fourth judge at the County level has given us an opportunity to elect an exceptionally well qualified member of our legal community. Many of you met Tom Campbell last January when he announced his desire to be that judge. We have enjoyed the time he has spent with us as it has given us an opportunity to know Tom Campbell. Please offer to help him with his campaign in whatever capacity you can.

Many of us have had the opportunity to meet and talk with our State judicial candidates on more than one occasion. How fortunate we are to have strong, honest, qualified candidates for the Supreme, Superior and Commonwealth Courts. These candidates need your vote and your support. Pivotal is Joan Orie Melvin’s election to the Supreme Court which will determine the majority in that court. We have the following Superior Court candidates, Sallie Mundy, Temp Smith Judy Olson and Paula Francesco Ott who will replace retiring Judge Lally Green. Then there are Commonwealth Court candidates Pat McCullough and Kevin Brobson. All of these candidates are in need of your votes and support.

We have much to do and many events. We ask for your participation and support as we move into the fall season. So not hesitate to contact me with any questions or comments.

Sincerely,

Nadine DeVine

I want to thank all of you who attended the Lincoln Day Dinner. We had a marvelous turn out for the evening. We were fortunate to have many of the State and County Judicial candidates and elected officials available to meet and personally speak to any question that you may have had. The food was good and we really enjoyed your company.

We have another busy election year! We have positions on the Pennsylvania Supreme, Superior and Commonwealth Courts. We also have the newly created judge position for Adams County, re-election for the Sherriff, Clerk of Courts, Magisterial District Court Judge 51-3-02 and Judge of Elections. They all need your support. Please don’t hesitate to offer a helping hand to those you have chosen to support. The election process is our participation in our government and we need to encourage everyone to be involved.

I have included our schedule of events for 2009. Please retain this for calendar dates and contact information. Our web site will also give you this information.

I would like to encourage everyone to think about a friend or neighbor who might be interested in joining our organization and invite them to come to one of our dinner meetings. In closing I would like to take this opportunity to thank our officers and committee chairs for all the time and energy they willingly give to this Council. We have a marvelous group of women who work extremely well together and I want everyone to know how much we appreciate them. THANK YOU!!!

Sincerely,

August 2008

Hello Everyone,
I hope you had an enjoyable summer. I can’t believe it’s almost over.
We start a busy fall season beginning September 11th. Our membership dinner will be held at the Gettysburg Hotel’s Webster Room. Tom Ellis has been invited to speak. We hear so much on TV about the presidential candidates it will be good to hear from a State candidate. We need more good leaders like Attorney General Tom Corbett in our State Government. Tom Ellis has those qualities. Remember new members joining our council that night will receive a free one year membership

We have received word that Christine Todd Whitman will be at Gettysburg College September 22nd. If you remember she was the Governor of New Jersey and then became Director of Environmental Protection Agency. Don’t hesitate to call me closer to that date if you have an interest in attending.

September 26th ,27th and 28th our council will host the opening ceremony and lunch for the Pennsylvania Federation of Republican Women’s convention being held at the Gettysburg Hotel. Conventions can be an exciting time and this one in our own backyard affords us an opportunity to see firsthand what is involved. If you can’t attend anything else please give serious consideration to joining us for the opening lunch. We need volunteers for registration and the boutique. If you can and would like to help, please let Betsy or Marcia or myself know your wishes. For additional convention information see the enclosed form.
In the near future I will be contacting our Apple Harvest volunteers. We will need your help to continue to sell apple bread and cookies to raise funds for our organization. We are so very appreciative for all you can do. With your help we will have another successful year.
In the midst of the busy fall schedule we have an election. We have a great opportunity to retain Tom Corbett, an excellent Attorney General. Well qualified Republican candidates Chet Beiler for Auditor General and Tom Ellis for Treasurer fill out the state ballot. The Republican Presidential candidate John McCain is asking for your support and your vote. He needs you to purchase his yard signs and bumper stickers. If you can purchase some of these materials call the victory store at 1-866-241-2295 or on line @ www.Johnnymac08.com. The items can be shipped to you or to our John McCain headquarters at ll2 York St. Gettysburg, Pa 17325 for distribution. Volunteers are still needed. If you can serve in that capacity call Betsy Hower at: 528-4504. Please do whatever you can to ensure a John McCain win on November 4th. Pennsylvania remains a pivotal state.
As you can see, we have much to do. Mark your calendars or better yet, retain the enclosed schedule of event update. Note the January 2009 meeting at Dunlap’s Restaurant will start our new year. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to call me.

Sincerely,

Nadine DeVine

February 2008

Hello Everyone,

I hope everyone is ready for a busy political year. Not only is it a presidential election year but also an open seat in the 33rd State Senatorial District and the 193rd State Representative District. Congressman Todd Platts, State Representative Dan Moul, State Attorney General Tom Corbett and District Attorney Shawn Wagner will be seeking reelection. We will be electing State Committee members and convention delegates. I hope I didn’t forget anyone! The candidates will be asking for your help in their campaigns. These candidates will be representing you in the U.S. Congress, the State Senate and the State House of Representatives. Please volunteer as frequently as you are able. No effort is too small.

Our State organization PA Federation of Republican Women will host another Red Jacket Day on the Hill. Our council was well represented last year when women from all over the state arrived at the capital in Harrisburg to meet and greet with the State Legislators. I hope you will all get you red jackets out and join us for the fun. Please let me know if you are planning on joining us, the tentative date is March 10th.

The last weekend in September will be a busy and exciting time. The PA Federation of Republican Women will host their annual convention at the Gettysburg Hotel. There will be many fun and exciting events over the three-day weekend. I hope you will plan to attend some or all of the many events. It has been quite a while since the convention was held in Gettysburg, so come and enjoy meeting and talking with your state counterparts about the topics that interest PA’s Republican Women. We will try to keep you informed as details become available.

Regretfully I need to inform you that due to increasing costs, both the PA Federation of Republican Women and the National Federation of Republican Women felt they had no other choice but to increase their dues. Dues for 2009 will be $15 for Local and State and $10 for the National Federation.

Your schedule of events is included in this mailing. Please retain for planning and scheduling information. You can also find the schedule on our web site. Mark your calendar and join us for the many events taking place in 2008. Don’t hesitate to bring husbands or friends. Everyone is welcome. Your organization needs your participation and support.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the council members for electing me your President for another term. I would also like to thank your officers. Each one has contributed greatly to the success of our council. Thank you one and all for all your time and effort.

Please let me know if there is something you would like to do! Sometimes I miss recognizing a special gift or talent. I am looking forward to seeing each of you. Sincerely,

 Nadine DeVine
